Reading your results: charts, links and downloads
What the charts, link counts and CSV download show, and why opens are an imperfect number.
Charts
Each campaign shows its last 30 days, each run shows its own timeline (by hour while it's recent, by day later), and the dashboard shows the last 14 days. Pale bars are emails sent, purple are people who opened, green are people who clicked. Under every chart, Show the numbers gives the same figures as a table.
- Each person counts once, at the moment of their first open or click. Opening ten times doesn't add ten.
- Days and hours follow your workspace time zone (Settings → Workspace).
- A quiet day shows as zero, not as a gap.
Which links got clicked
A campaign's Results tab and each run's page list every link that was clicked, with People (each person once) and Clicks (every click). This needs Track opens and clicks turned on when the campaign was created. Clicks recorded before link-by-link counting existed are counted per person but can't be split by link.
Download the results
Download results (CSV) on a campaign or a run gives one row per person: their email and name, the status, when it was sent, whether they opened, clicked and replied, the first lines of any reply, and any error. It opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
- A campaign download covers every run and follow-up. A run download covers just that run.
- Very large exports stop at 50,000 rows and say so on the last line. Download a single run for the rest.
- Text that starts with = + - or @ is saved with a leading ' so a spreadsheet can't run it as a formula.
Why opens are only a guide
- Apple Mail pre-loads images, so some opens happen without anyone reading. This inflates opens.
- Some mail programs block images, so some real opens are never counted. This hides opens.
- Clicks, and especially replies, are far more reliable than opens.
If something looks wrong
- The charts are empty: tracking was off, nothing has been sent in that period, or the campaign hasn't started.
- The link list is empty: click tracking was off, or nobody has clicked yet.
- Opens look too high: see Apple Mail above. Compare against clicks and replies.
- The CSV looks garbled in Excel: open it with File → Import and choose UTF-8. The file starts with a marker that usually makes Excel do this by itself.
- The download is missing someone: people deleted from your contacts show as "(deleted contact)" with their send details but not their email.
