The do-not-email list

See who is blocked and why, add people by hand, import a list, and lift a block safely.

Everyone on this list is skipped by every campaign, in every list. People get here three ways: they unsubscribed, their address bounced, or you added them.

Adding people

  • By hand: paste one or more addresses (one per line, or separated by commas) and add an optional reason.
  • Import: upload a text file with one address per line, or a CSV with an "email" column. Up to 5MB.

Addresses already on the list are not added twice, and anything that is not a valid address is skipped. Vecta tells you how many of each.

Lifting a block

Press Lift next to an address. You must say why, and Vecta keeps that note under Recently lifted. The contact is set back to active, so your next campaign will reach them.

Be careful with unsubscribes

Someone who unsubscribed told you not to email them. Lift it only if they have asked to hear from you again, and keep the proof. Emailing people who opted out can break the law in many countries and gets your mailbox reported as spam.

Example

A customer's mailbox was full for a week, so their address bounced and was blocked. They tell you it is fixed. You lift the block with the reason "mailbox fixed, confirmed by phone 3 Oct" and they receive your next campaign.

If something looks wrong

  • Someone I lifted is still skipped: they unsubscribed again, or bounced again, and were blocked again. Check their page for the reason.
  • An imported address was ignored: it was already blocked, or was not a valid address. The result message counts both.
  • I blocked someone but they still got an email: campaigns check the list when they are queued and again at send time. If the email was already sent before you added them, it cannot be recalled.
